Starting Monday, November 2, 2026, SF Bay Ferry will eliminate the weekday 11:30 a.m. departure from Downtown San Francisco to Vallejo. The operator’s fall service-change notice confirms the date and direction: northbound, Monday–Friday. It does not list a weekday Vallejo-to-San Francisco cancellation.
Checked October 5, 2026.
Which sailing should you take instead?
For a Vallejo outing, favor the earlier departure if you want to keep your planned return. Taking a later boat shortens your time ashore unless you also move the return later.
The currently posted Vallejo timetable provides these nearby weekday options:
| Leave Downtown SF | Arrive Vallejo | Planning choice |
|---|---|---|
| 11:05 a.m. | 12:05 p.m. | Leave 25 minutes earlier than the removed trip; preserve more time ashore. |
| 12:10 p.m. | 1:10 p.m. | Leave 40 minutes later; shorten the outing or choose a later return. |
These are the operator’s posted times, not a newly dated November timetable. The route page still labels its schedule effective March 9, 2026; the November notice lists only the 11:30 a.m. removal for Vallejo weekdays. Recheck the route page before traveling.
ABC7’s September 24 report described alternatives roughly an hour either side. The operator’s posted table differs, so do not assume 10:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. departures.
Choose your return before leaving San Francisco
The same posted weekday timetable lists Vallejo returns including 4:10 p.m. → 5:10 p.m. SF, 4:50 p.m. → 5:50 p.m. SF, and a final 7:05 p.m. → 8:05 p.m. SF. Verify these for your date.
For example, pairing the posted 11:05 a.m. outbound with the 4:10 p.m. return gives you 4 hours 5 minutes between arrival and departure in Vallejo, before allowing for return boarding. Taking the 12:10 p.m. outbound leaves 3 hours with that same return.
If you have dinner, a show or another connection in San Francisco, work backward from that commitment. Allow time after docking rather than treating the ferry’s arrival as your arrival at the next venue.
Board in San Francisco at Gate E1, Downtown SF Terminal. The operator recommends arriving 10–15 minutes early, and all trips are first-come, first-served. See the route information and visitor boarding guidance.
November exceptions and separate ferry systems
- Thanksgiving: No SF Bay Ferry service November 26; November 27–29 uses weekend service, including Friday. November 11 uses weekday service. Check the holiday calendar.
- Other SF Bay Ferry changes: This is one Vallejo departure, not the full systemwide November change. The operator’s notice also lists Vallejo weekend time shifts and changes elsewhere.
- Golden Gate Ferry: This cut does not apply to that separate operator’s Sausalito, Tiburon, Larkspur or Angel Island services. Check Golden Gate’s own information for your trip.
Diesel costs are not an approved new fare
ABC7 attributed the cancellation to diesel costs and reported that officials mentioned a possible future 50-cent increase, while saying they did not currently plan to raise fares. That was not an approved fare change. The Vallejo route page currently lists a $10 regular one-way fare, effective July 1, 2026.
If rain or wind makes a waterfront outing less appealing, keep the day in San Francisco rather than forcing a late departure: browse the Ferry Building’s marketplace offerings, then choose a shorter San Francisco waterfront route if conditions improve.
