You can visit the completed park at 900 Innes Avenue now. The final phase—the adjoining India Basin Shoreline Park renovation—is still under construction, with a current completion target of early 2028, not a confirmed opening day. As of October 7, 2026, SF Recreation and Parks lists that phase’s construction schedule as August 2025 to early 2028.
For a visit to Bayview-Hunters Point, plan around the open 900 Innes section rather than the future continuous waterfront park.
What happened to the 2026 completion target?
An official March 2024 project overview scheduled the Shoreline Park phase for fall 2024 through fall 2026. That timetable has been superseded.
The July 6, 2026 construction update reported that all 57 foundation piles for the future boathouse had been installed in June. Crews were still removing unforeseen buried concrete and managing soil stockpiles used to reduce future ground settlement. The update said other construction activities would “continue over the next year”—already pointing beyond 2026.
The August update then reported work on the boathouse’s concrete foundation and grading for the basketball courts. Neither update announced an opening date. The project page’s current early-2028 construction schedule is the planning reference to use; don’t treat 2027 as a promised opening either.
What can you visit now?
The 900 Innes park opened in October 2024. Its completed features include two public piers, a floating dock, restrooms, an accessible walkway, native landscaping and the restored Shipwright’s Cottage welcome center. These belong to the open section, not the unfinished Shoreline Park phase. See the project’s 900 Innes guide.
For a visit with staffed facilities, the project website currently lists:
- Shipwright’s Cottage welcome center: Wednesday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
- Food Pavilion with local chefs: Saturday–Sunday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Those are facility hours, not published opening hours for the entire outdoor park. A weekend late-morning visit gives you the best overlap for both.
Expect possible construction noise: the project website’s October notice says pile driving for the future boat dock landing begins October 1, with work within regular construction hours of 7 a.m.–7 p.m. It gives no end date for that work.
Don’t plan a continuous Bay Trail walk yet
The city’s construction advisory says the Bay Trail is closed between 900 Innes and the PG&E shoreline and directs visitors to alternate routes. Treat 900 Innes as a standalone stop; don’t assume a short-looking waterfront connection on the map is walkable.
If your main goal is a longer waterfront outing, use the Dogpatch–Mission Bay one-way walk instead of trying to extend through this construction area. In rain or strong wind, shorten the India Basin visit around the welcome center’s staffed hours, or postpone the outdoor portion rather than making the detour the centerpiece of your day.
