For an October visit, go to the San Francisco County Fair Building, also called the Hall of Flowers, at 1199 9th Avenue. Forever Grateful, Golden Gate Park runs September 5–October 25, 2026. It is a ticketed exhibition—not the earlier free show at Haight Street Art Center. Exhibition dates and venue · Organizer’s address and tickets
Visit information checked October 1, 2026.
Two exhibitions, two different addresses
Haight Street Art Center presents both exhibitions, which is why its name appears on the park show’s booking page. It does not mean you should travel to the center’s own galleries.
| Exhibition | Where to go | 2026 dates and admission |
|---|---|---|
| Forever Grateful, Golden Gate Park | County Fair Building, 1199 9th Avenue, by the park entrance at Lincoln Way | September 5–October 25; ticketed. City announcement |
| Earlier Forever Grateful exhibition | Haight Street Art Center, 215 Haight Street | July 3–September 20; free during its run, which has now ended. Original exhibition · Closing date |
The earlier show featured more than 400 artworks, instruments and archival objects. The park exhibition is the second chapter: historic objects mixed with installations, liquid-light effects and live performers. Its centerpieces include Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters’ original Furthur bus and Jerry Garcia’s BMW. What the park exhibition includes
Tickets and arrival
Before traveling, use the organizer’s Eventbrite booking page to confirm available dates, entry times, the final ticket price and arrival rules. Don’t assume the park exhibition is free: the free Grahame Lesh & Friends concert advertised alongside it was the separate September 7 opening-weekend event. City event details
Likewise, don’t use Haight Street Art Center’s regular Thursday–Sunday, noon–6 p.m. gallery hours as the park exhibition schedule. Those are the hours for its 215 Haight Street location. Center’s visitor information
For step-free access, seating or sensory accommodations, contact the organizer before booking; the exhibition includes light effects and performances. Use Haight Street Art Center’s contact page and specify the County Fair Building exhibition.
A compact Inner Sunset outing
Keep this visit around 9th Avenue rather than adding a cross-park walk.
- Arrive by N Judah. From downtown, take a westbound train toward Ocean Beach and get off at 9th Avenue & Irving Street. Walk north on 9th Avenue to Lincoln Way and the County Fair Building. For the downtown return, SFMTA lists an eastbound stop at Irving Street & 8th Avenue. Check live service before leaving. N Judah stops and directions
- Visit the exhibition, then consider the Botanical Garden. The garden is beside this park entrance and also uses 1199 9th Avenue, so check that your map destination says County Fair Building, not just the shared address. In October, the garden’s last entry is 5 p.m., with closing one hour later. Check garden admission separately before adding it to your visit. Garden location · Garden hours and admission information
- Finish with food on 9th Avenue. Arizmendi Bakery at 1331 9th Avenue, between Irving and Judah, offers pastries, breads and pizza. Its posted hours are Tuesday–Sunday, 7:30 a.m.–6 p.m.; closed Mondays. Arizmendi location and hours
This plan keeps the neighborhood walking to a few blocks instead of adding a hill climb or a long traverse toward the ocean. In rain or uncomfortable wind, skip the garden and choose a nearby meal with indoor seating. For more neighborhood options, use our Inner Sunset starting-point guide.
Driving? The nearby Music Concourse Garage is a parking option; check its hours and rates before setting out rather than assuming parking at the exhibition building. Garage information
